Curriculum Review: Urban Spatial Science 2021
Conducted audit of casa’s teaching portfolio and, through consultation with all academic staff, helped steer a restructuring of programmes and modules to reduce overlap, give students greater flexibility, and allow for staff sabbaticals/leave in a more flexible manner.
Module Lead: Foundations of Spatial Data Science 2020–
Shifted module focus from ‘intro to programming’ towards critical engagement with the spatial data analytics pipeline. Use of Docker/Podman, Jupyter and Quarto to teach, EDA, ESDA, and basic NLP.
Curriculum Design & Development: Geocomputation & Spatial Analysis Pathway 2013–2020
Developed & launched unique ‘geocomputation pathway’ for undergraduate students.
- Series of three modules (plus optional ‘Code Camp’) designed to address skills gaps in geography.
- Substantial impact on students undertaking quantitative research and using gis in 3rd year.
